Page 3 How the Media Distort the FactsGrossly exaggerated reporting is not something new. But when it comes to protecting the vested interests it takes on a new dimension. I remember seeing a headline in 1993, 'Cancer cured in mice.' Of course after all the blazing headlines, never actually getting there is the main goal for the vested interests. The usual face saving additive is always in ten or so years we will have a cure The punch line is always, it is yet to be proved in man, but clinical trials are proceeding. The Sun, May 5th 1999, had this headline: Mice Drug 'Will Cure Cancer in Two Years.' the strap line was 'Docs hail discovery.' It went on to assure us that the drugs had 'seen off all types of cancers.' Then it makes the incredible claim that their genetic make up is similar to humans. The genome of the mouse may appear to be similar, but what is similar? If I were to say that the atmosphere in the next room was similar to earths would you go in ? They also make a fundamental mistake in that similar is 'same.' Indeed it is not! It is the interactions between genes that is the deciding factor to how the body will respond. Animal rights protestors and especially anti vivisectionists are portrayed either as sentimental human haters, ignorant or anti science. None of these statements is true...far from it, but it fits in well with the image the media wishes to portray to the public. How could it be any other way? The paymasters of the high priests of vivisection dictate the images which despite protests are never approaching the real picture which is that animal campaigners are the true human beings. Step out of line at the BBC and you won’t last long, the truth must be hidden at all costs.
